Castagneto
Carducci confines to the west with the sea, to north
with the country one of Bibbona, to east with Monteverdi
Marittimo and Sassetta, to south with Suvereto and San
Vincenzo. The Common one has not endured during this
last century a great expansion and introduces therefore
a conformation much similar one to that one brought
back on the catastali maps of the 1800's, conserved
near the Archives of State of Livorno. The original
nucleus from the Castle Of the Gherardesca, situated
in top to a height and encircled from walls (of which
the forehead turned towards the sea) and from the propositura
of S. Lorenzo survives, of which the single facade is
visible because the body of the building is inglobato
to the inside of the town-walls. Outside them it walls
the city center has been developed between the Sixteenth
and Eighteenth century, around to the Castle second
an outline ring composite it concentrates to us that
they follow the constituent line and contours of the
land the viario order. This first original nucleus, that
it comprised also the Hospital of S. Antonio and some
houses constructed along the ancient one via Bolgherese,
is documented from the scattered signs and the architectonic
survivals of all the area that extends to the shoulders
of the center of the City Council.
